Call for Submissions
World Congress on Computational Mechanics 2018 Mini-Symposium:
Expanding the Frontiers of Engineering Design using Computation

Submission Deadline: December 31st 2017
Conference Date: July 22, 2018 - July 27, 2018
Location: Marriort Marquis, New York City, New York
Abstract Submission Instructions: http://www.wccm2018.org/abstract-submission.

The WCCM Mini-Symposium on Expanding the Frontiers of Engineering Design using Computation  is seeking high-quality submissions in the areas of computational design, simulation and digital manufacturing.

The WCCM is the most attended, and most broadly themed gathering of engineers, applied mathematicians, and computational scientists working on areas relating to mechanics, materials, computation and finite elements. Attendance provides an unprecedented opportunity to build bridges between the computer graphics and engineering communities.

The goal of this mini-symposium is to discuss the ever-evolving landscape of mechanical design, which is driven by new manufacturing techniques, such as additive manufacturing, which allow for increased control of geometry and material properties from architectural- to micro-scale. Our goal is to explore new computational methods for design for this problem domain, and unlock the full potential of new manufacturing hardware.

Submissions take the form of a 400 word abstract with up to three references and no figures or equations. Submissions on any topic related to computational design and fabrication are encouraged, ranging from in depth discussions of cutting edge research to overviews of the state of the field. Accepted submissions will be allotted a 20 minute presentation at the symposium. We welcome you to be apart of this exciting event.
